Christopher Engelmann is an associate attorney at our law firm. Mr. Engelmann assists our attorneys with client matters before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Employment Development Department (EDD), and California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA).
Prior to joining our firm as an associate attorney, Mr. Engelmann worked in both bankruptcy and construction litigation law offices for several years. He also worked at the Civil Business Office in Downtown San Diego Courthouse helping litigants with Temporary Restraining Orders, Name Changes, and Unlawful Detainers. It wasn’t long before Mr. Engelmann took a position as a Law Clerk at our office, where he gained experience in IRS, FTB, CDTFA, and EDD audits, levies and lien removals, Installment Agreements, Abatements, Appeals, and Offers-in-Compromise.
Mr. Engelmann grew up in Orange County but moved to San Diego when he decided to pursue his undergraduate degree at the University of California San Diego. Deciding to stay in San Diego, Mr. Engelmann continued his educational journey by earning both his Juris Doctor and Master of Law in Taxation (LL.M.) at the University of San Diego School of Law.
At the University of San Diego School of Law, Mr. Engelmann volunteered at the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, helping several low-income taxpayers file their taxes. He also worked at the State Income Tax Clinic – California where he worked with low-income clients resolve their tax matters. It was his work at the State Income Tax Clinic – California where he was recognized as the top student of the clinic his graduating year by receiving the “Award for Outstanding Clinic Intern.”
