John Forry is Of Counsel with RJS LAW. Mr Forry concentrates his practice on advising public and private businesses and individuals in international taxation, investment, and finance. John is also a university professor in these subject matters. With extensive experience in advising international businesses and individuals involved in over 45 countries, he is familiar with regulations and business cultures in both the U.S. and many other areas of the world.
Previously, Mr. Forry co-founded a prominent forum for international tax professionals, and served as international counsel, principal, and managing director with both law and accounting forms focused on private clients and mid-market businesses. John was also a Partner with Ernst & Young in New York and served as Senior Partner with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, in charge of their California offices and their international section’s Latin America and Pacific Rim practices.
At academic institutions, John Forry served as Director of Tax Programs and selected International Programs and Professor in Residence at the University of San Diego School of Law and was a visiting Professor to instruct individual Courses at Peking University School of Transnational Law (China), Direito GV (Brazil), Montpellier University School of Law (France), Ecole Supérieure de Commerce (France), and Fordham Law School (New York).
With graduate degrees from Amherst College and Harvard Law School, John has served on the Advisory Group to the U.S. Commissioner of Internal Revenue. He has also authored or co-authored six books and approximately 50 articles on international taxation, investment, and finance.
John’s personal interests have included overseeing an endowed fund at Amherst College on philosophical implications of scientific developments, contributing a library for the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard, and participating in amateur squash, auto racing, scuba diving, and climbing the highest peaks in Japan.
