Marco Torres is a lawyer with over twenty (20) years of experience.  He is a veteran of the United States Army, Reserves, and the California Army National Guard – serving as a 29M Tactical Satellite/Microwave Repair technician. 

Mr. Torres graduated from the University of California Hastings College of Law and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Marco has worked for large multi-national companies, including PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and North American Exchange Company, a division of Lennar Homes. Before joining RJS Law, Marco practiced as a solo practitioner from 2008 through April 2024.  

Mr. Torres is an experienced bankruptcy attorney.  With his bankruptcy guidance, clients have been able to discharge millions of dollars in debts, cancelled second mortgages and HELOC’s, resolved outstanding tax liabilities, cancelled civil judgments, and saved their homes from foreclosure. Marco has been instrumental in reestablishing a solid financial foundation and the peace of mind that comes with putting prior fiscal issues to rest.

In addition to his bankruptcy and insolvency knowledge and experience, Marco also has a wealth of experience in addressing client issues related to business and corporate issues, family law, and civil litigation.

Marco has represented real estate investors in structuring safe-harbor and non-safe harbor IRC Sect. 1031 exchanges, litigated against the California State Board of Equalization, represented clients in renegotiating loan agreements, negotiated lease agreements and lease terminations, and represented clients in restructuring cross-collateralized loan agreements. 

Recognizing that people call upon Marco to resolve difficult and sensitive legal matters which are often overwhelming, stressful and all consuming, he is a compassionate, respectful advocate providing guidance and direction to enable clients to successfully reach their goals. Marco also prides himself on his ability to provide a strong, unified approach in his representation in order to obtain the best possible outcomes for his clients.  

Marco A. Torres is licensed to practice throughout the state of California as well as the United State District Court and Bankruptcy Court in the Central, Northern and Southern District of California.
